Dr. and Mrs. Geo. Ashby, of Chicago, were guests recently of Miss Mamie Spriggs.

Presiding Elder Haight will preach a sermon at the M. E. church next Sunday morning.
Miss Hattie Houghtaling has been spending a short time at her home near Palatine.

Invitations are out for the marriage of Dr. D. H. Richardson to Miss Emma Landwer.

Roy Peck, who is attending school at Wheaton, has been home on a visit for a few days.

There will be an Easter concert at the M. E. church next Sunday evening given by the Sunday school.

Mr. and Mrs. James Goodhue, of Rockford, Ill., were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Howarth this week.

Mr. A. H. Boehmer is putting in a new engine and boiler in his creamery, four miles south of Barrington.

Mr. James Sizer was called to Chicago Tuesday noon on account of the serious illness of her brother, Dwight Hawley.

Mrs. J. K. Bennett moved to Fox Lake, Thursday of last week. She will run a club house there during the coming summer.

Miss Jennie Crowley went to Chicago Tuesday to attend commencement exercises of the Dental Class at Central Music Hall.

Mr. J. Lawrence, of Aurora, a former resident of this place, has been allowed a pension of $30 per month and $1914 back pay,

Geo. W. Nightengale, John, Robert, Bertha and Anna Golden were taken in full connection with the M.E. Church last Sunday.

Mr. J. W. Kingsley is making preparations to build his new house, and will commence on the foundation as soon as the weather permits.

Mr. J. W. Kingsley has commenced excavating for the foundation of his new house which will be built opposite Mr. H. A. Harnden’s residence.

We have received a copy of The American Farm News. It is a monthly Journal devoted to farming and manufacturing, and is furnished to subscribers at the low price of 25 cents a year.

Died-March 16th, 1891, R. T. Tracy, age 72 years. Funeral at residence Thursday forenoon. His remains were interred in the cemetery, two miles north of Barrington.

Some of the young boys seem to take particular delight in molesting one of our merchants. While we do like to see bays enjoy themselves, there is sach a thing as going too far with fun, and we think this they have done.

The young men of Barrington will give a grand ball at Lamey’s hall, Wednesday evening, April 1st, 1891. Music will be furnished by Leone Bros., of Chicago. Tickets 75 cents; supper extra. All are cordially invited to attend.

The members of the Baptist Church and congregation desire to thank most earnestly The Galaxy for all the beautiful and useful articles they have provided in the repairing ef the Church, such as the chandelier, lamps and the pulpit and other furniture.

Died-Saturday morning, March 22d, 1891, at her home, Mrs. Wm. Weister. Age, 64 years, 3 months and 2 days. She was born at Arnemuller, Hanover, Germany, December 20th, 1826. She leaves a husband, six children and a sister to mourn her loss. She has been an invalid for 8 years. The funeral occurred Wednesday, Rev. E. Rahn officiating.

George Schultz and Joseph Hass were placed under arrest Wednesday of last week. They had the extreme pleasure of spending a night in our cooler. Thursday they were brought before Police Magistrate Bute, and Mr. Schultz was fined $5 and costs for disorderly conduct, and Mr. Hass was fined $3 and costs for being drunk. It sometimes proves expensive to have a big time.
